The latest version of Land Rover’s full-size Range Rover, is often underestimated as an overpriced SUV. Owing to the fact that, in India almost no one ever uses the Range Rover off road, its true skills are concealed. The Range Rover is almost always perceived as a status icon in India. The build of the car from outside, looks like a monolithic metal structure. Took the V8 autobiography Black edition out for a spin today to see how it felt. It is the meanest and heaviest machine I have ever come across accelerating fast enough to push your neck into the seat. It’s bigger yet lighter than the old car. It comes with a more powerful engine and a better suspension. It steers more fluidly than its predecessor. On paper the car is more powerful while being more efficient and slightly more tactile to drive. In the new long wheel base version, the seats are so far apart that they are in different time zones.

Performance figures The Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography Black Edition sits on a poised 5 liter, V 8, supercharged engine putting under your foot 550 bhp. It is no surprise that 0 to 100 kph is dealt with in 5.2 seconds and keeps going till 225 kph. 625 Nm of torque keeps the neck breaking acceleration unvarying through the revs. The power is put to work through an 8 speed gearbox. Appearance and feel The unique grille and bright chrome inserts adds politeness to the majestic beast. The specially crafted alloys enhance the look and add a corporate touch to it. The panoramic roof lights up the car with natural light, keeping you in touch with the ‘outside world’. The knurled design theme runs thorough the car giving the car a calm attitude. The electrically adjustable seats in the front and recliners in the back obliges to highest possible comfort. The rear instrument control cluster gives full control of all the components of the car to the rear passengers making it the s class if suv’s.

I cherish a profound sentiment towards cars, bikes, speedboats, planes and almost all modes of transportation and writing about it is an avenue that helps me redeem myself.
