Entry-level cars should never be about cost-cutting just to get the pricing right. The customers are now smart enough and are always looking for something more at similar prices. Therefore, Citroen C3 Aircross Automatic had to come into the picture, and yes, the French automaker has finally launched the mid-sized SUV with an introductory price tag starting at Rs.12.84 Lakhs (ex-showroom, India).

Design, Interior & Features

The new C3 Aircross is based on the same platform that we already saw on the C3. However, the former one is more accommodating, with 5+2 seating layout and more boot space. The carmaker has decently loaded the mid-sized SUV with features such as a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch fully digital driver’s display, a tyre pressure monitoring system and roof-mounted AC vents for both second and third row. Citroen has also come with smartphone connectivity solutions on the SUV by introducing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

If you remember, last time we reported that the carmaker had confirmed that it has achieved 90% localisation when we spoke about C3 Aircross.

Additional Features

Unlike the regular manual variants, this is now equipped with Remote Engine Start for cold start and remote AC preconditioning. Similarly, to make it more user-friendly, Citroen has come up with Hill Hold Assist on the automatic version of C3 Aircross.

Engine & Transmission

As expected, the carmaker has retained the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that was available from the beginning and has paired it to a 6-speed torque converter gearbox. The result is it now produces 110PS and 205Nm, where the overall torque is up by 15Nm when compared to 190Nm offered with the manual variants.

The exciting part about this gearbox is that it comes with manual mode. Fuel efficiency, on the other hand, from this setup stands at 17.6kmpl.
