Design & Exterior

Just like how Nexon.ev is inspired by the ICE-powered sibling, even Punch.ev derives inspiration from its gas-powered version. Now, although the carmaker has come up with a completely new Pure EV architecture called acti.ev for the Punch.ev, the design is more or less similar to the regular Punch.

To differentiate, the grille that helps Punch breathe air is gone now, and thankfully, a continuously running LED has been introduced to make it more premium. These are not only meant for basic functions but also greet when one unlocks or locks the car. Now, that is some futuristic approach. Similar modern touches on the side and rear profile can also be seen on the Punch.ev.

Interior & Features

Tata Motors has also reworked the interior of Punch.ev to offer a premium feel on the inside. As a result, it now features a high-definition 26cm touchscreen infotainment system and a similarly sized digital cockpit. Coming straight from the Nexon.ev is the illuminated 2-spoke steering wheel with lots of switches. Then, the carmaker has also introduced wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, voice commands and an electric sunroof that was missing on the regular Punch.

Other features that need special mention are the 45W type-C USB port, seats with ventilation function, paddle shifter for regen and over-the-air software updates enabled platform.

Battery Options, Charging & Performance

Keeping a wider audience in mind, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd has come up with two battery options on the Punch.ev. The first one here is a 25kWh battery pack that returns an MIDC range of 315 kilometres and then, there is even a 35kWh battery pack available with an MIDC range of 421 kilometres.

The smaller battery pack is paired with a 60kW motor churning 114Nm. Meanwhile, the electric hatchback with a longer range has been launched with a 90kW motor, and to be precise, it produces 190Nm. The carmaker says that these variants can clock a triple-digit speed in just 9.5 seconds with a top speed of 140 kilometres.

Safety

In terms of safety, Punch.ev is available with six airbags, an Electronic Stability Program, and ISOFIX child seat mounts across the range.
