In its 275th Executive Council Meeting of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Thursday, it was decided to mandate compulsory attendance from all regular faculty members of the university.

As told in a press statement released by the JNU Registrar, “The EC approved the revised guidelines for the conferment of Professor Emeritus in JNU. After detailed discussions, the EC has decided to introduce attendance for all regular faculty members of the University which is in conformity with the recent resolution of the JNU Academic Council and the ‘UGC regulations on minimum qualifications for appointment of teachers and other academic staff in universities and colleges and measures for the maintenance of standards in higher education, 2018.”

In a tribute to the former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the executive council proposed to name their School of Management and Entrepreneurship as “Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Management and Entrepreneurship.”

The meeting also decided to go ahead with the Central Government’s decision regarding the 7th Central Pay Commission which will issue a Lifetime Valid Card under the CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme) for its retired employees and families

Finally, the council also decided to send in an application for funding from the Higher Education Funding Agency (HEFA). This is under the MHRD’s new scheme to bring in funding for creating state-of-the-art research infrastructure, hostel facilities, and student facilities.
