Dr. Rakesh Aggarwal has taken over as the Director of the Centrally-Administered Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Examination and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry on Tuesday.
Dr. Rakesh Aggarwal earlier used to work as a professor of Gastroenterology at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow since 1991.
His Qualification includes MBBS and MD (Medicine) degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and DM (Gastroenterology) degree from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. He also has a Master’s Degree in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London, UK, and has received training in laboratory research at the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, USA.
He is an elected fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy, National Academy of Sciences (India) and National Academy of Medical Sciences (India). He is also a member of several national and international panels and committees and is the editor of a major international gastroenterology journal.
His specializations include vaccination, epidemiology, biostatistics, research methodology, scientific communication, journal editing, and health economics.
