The Indian Institue of Technology, Roorkee offers applications for the Ph.D. program under Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF). IIT Roorkee offers a fellowship of Rs 70,000-80,000 per month for selected candidates. In addition to that, a research grant of Rs 2 lakh per year, which totals to 10 lakh for five years, is offered.
The application process closes on June 14 at 5 pm. Candidates can apply to the program at their official website at free of cost- iitr.ac.in. The students are asked to email the relevant academic details along with the statement of purpose (SOP) to [email protected].
The application form should be in pdf form as stated by the university. Moreover, the SOP should have details about your area of research, research publications in journals (if any), and the details of conferences attended.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has modified the eligibility criteria for PMRF to ensure more participants. This will come into effect from this year. The new rules allow the candidates to apply for scholarships both through direct and lateral modes.
The students who have completed MTech degree or pursuing a Ph.D. can also avail the scholarship. Also, the students who have their score more than 650 in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) are eligible to apply.
Selection will take place strictly according to the rules and norms. No student will be permitted on a requisition basis.
