Union Commerce, Industry, and Civil Aviation Minister, Suresh Prabhu inaugurated the new campus of the Footwear Design and Development Institute at Bihta in Patna district on Monday, 24th December 2019.

He announced that a ‘centre of excellence’ will be set up at a cost of ₹ 14 crore in the campus in order to promote ‘efficiency and innovation’ in the leather industry.

“The FDDI Bihta has also entered into agreements with institutes in England and Italy,” The minister said.

The beautiful campus of FDDI, Bihta has well-equipped classrooms fully airconditioned and an auditorium with latest equipments. The institute also offers access to the Wi-Fi in every corner of the campus. Modern machines and equipments have been installed for better cutting and finishing, and making computer-based designs.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Yadav said the State Government had provided 10 acres of land free of cost for setting up of the FDDI campus.

The FDDI campus was built at a cost of ₹115.95 crore.

“The 12th Century of FDDI in the country where around 300 students will be enrolled for three years,” Modi said.
