Recently, Anurag Thakur, the information technology committee member, BJP Leader, questioned the maker of the movie Sanjay Leela Bhansali that why does his upcoming movie ‘Padmavati‘ regularly attracting the controversy and that is resulting in the divisiveness and that is even causing loss of revenue to the entertainment industry. He has even asked the director that how does the print of the movie reach the UK and there were the consequences of a possible leak on the internet. There are some members who made the point at the recent event were impacting the freedom of expression while there were some other who said that the maker of the movie should not ignore the popular sensitivities.
Prasoon Joshi, the chief of the Central Board of Film Certification appeared before the petition committee and that also took the movie for discussion and its chair CP Joshi and also a BJP leader also understood to have noted that the Sanjay Leela Bhansali had failed to take cognizance of the faith and the reverence that the movie ‘Padmavati’ get invoked.

According to the latest reports, the Central Board of Film Certification has taken up to two months to decide to the movie after going through the multi-level process. However, the censor board is handling this issue with the utmost care as they feel that the situation is unprecedented as no other unseen movie has got such type of reaction before in India.
Now, the makers of the movie have given a fresh application by claiming that they want the movie to release in 3D also if the controversy ends. The producers of the movie have sent the application for the movie’s 3D version to the censor board. However, the whole process of clearing the 3D version of a movie is completed different from that of clearing the movie in a 2D version and there are some of the visual impacts some scenes may have on children. The Central Board of Film Certification will likely to undertake the clearing process for the 2D and 3D versions.
The chief of the CBFC, Prasoon Joshi said to the whole petition panel that he had not watched the movie and the Central Board of Film Certification had only cleared the movie’s trailer and a promotional video. The makers of the movie have responded the question on how the makers of the movie can send the movie to the UK for the certification. Prasoon clarified that the two are completely and are an independent process.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali has quizzed by the house that how can the panel had announced the release of the movie on December 1, when the official application was only made on November 11.
