Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu’s second collaboration ‘Badla‘ has surpassed the lifetime box office of ‘Andhadhun‘ which was of the same genre as ‘Badla’. The film will very soon cross the lifetime earning of ‘Piku’ also.

With about ₹1 crore on third Thursday, the film’s earning has reached up to ₹74.43 crores net and ₹89.43 crores gross. Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Andhadhun’ did total box office business of ₹73.37 crores net.

Movie critic and biz analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office collection of ‘Badla’ on Twitter and wrote, “#Badla crosses ₹ 75 cr… All set to surpass *lifetime biz* of #Piku… [Week 3] Fri 2.07 cr, Sat 2.65 cr, Sun 2.75 cr, Thu 1 cr. Total: ₹ 75.79 cr. India biz. Gross BOC: ₹ 89.43 cr.”

Badla, as the name suggests, is a revenge story where Naina (Taapsee Pannu) is accused of the murder of Arjun (Tony Luke). Naina’s lawyer, Jimmy (Manav Kaul) hires the senior advocate Badal Gupta (Amitabh Bachchan) to help her get out of the case. The story takes a series of interesting twists and turns when Naina confesses her deeds to Badal.

The direction given by Sujoy Ghosh is full of thrills and genuine twists with great effects. Sujoy has smartly crafted the same old whodunnit with great execution with tactfulness. The movie is engaging and keeps you constantly guessing about the big reveal. The fact that the movie is a Spanish remake hardly matters as the strong performances by Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu keeps you engaged, along with the excellent and detailed writing by Ghosh.
