Kapil Dev‘s daughter Amiya Dev has joined the squad Kabir Khan’s Ranveer Singh starrer ’83 as an assistant director. Amiya Dev has been quietly working on the project and very keen on learning the ropes of filmmaking before pursuing film as a career.
Currently, the 23-year-old is regularly attending the team’s practice sessions for the film. These sessions are being conducted by former pace bowler Balvinder Singh Sandhu every morning at Mumbai’s playground.
Kabir Khan and producer Madhu Matena were absent for a comment, Former Cricketer Sandeep Patil’s son Chirag, who will be portraying his father in ’83 told Mumbai Mirror in an interview that both of their father played the World Cup together in 1983, and he met Amiya recently, “We met for the first time while working on the film. She’s from Delhi, I’m from Mumbai and she’s way younger than me. She’s part of our daily training sessions since she is on the direction team. So, she keeps us updated on any meetings we are supposed to attend. Whenever I’m in Kabir’s office, she’s there and is very involved in the process, be it planning the costumes or the schedule,” Chirag informs.
Earlier, it was reported that the cast of sports-drama will conclude their Mumbai training in a few days and will head towards Dharamshala for a 10-day bonding and training session. Besides Ranveer Singh, the film also features Pankaj Tripathi, Ammy Virk, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Tahir Raj Bhasin, and Jiiva among others.
