Actress Bhumi Pednekar is currently busy with the promotions of her upcoming film ‘Saand Ki Aankh’.
In a recent interview given to Zoom, Bhumi and her co-star Taapsee Pannu talked about several issues in the film industry.
They were asked about the recent ageism controversy around the film’s casting that erupted after Neena Gupta said that the roles belonging to her age should be given to actresses of that same age group.
Bhumi questioned the gender dynamics and asked, “I want to know why isn’t the other gender questioned by the same lot of seniority actors.”
She also talked about certain things the lead actors do in films and the danger of it being replicated by someone without giving much thought to it.
“I might morally disagree with something and if it’s shown on screen, I am sure there will be somebody out there enacting the same thing because their hero has done it on screen and whoever has taken that has taken it with a joke”. She said.
The ‘Sonchiriya’ actress said that certain things can be shown in films but there should be some justification about it.
‘Saand Ki Aankh’ is directed by debutant Tushar Hiranandani and is based on the lives of sharpshooters Chandro and Prakashi Tomar.
The film is slated to release on 25 October, 2019.
