Akshay Kumar and John Abraham have been giving us movies with great stories this year. The success of Parmanu earlier this year has brought John back into the game. This Independence Day, Akshay Kumar and John Abraham’s movie will clash at the box office.

The representative of a major multiplex chain says the competition between Gold and Satyameva Jayate is rather fierce. “As far as the number of screens and shows goes, the competition is fierce. Initially, Gold had an advantage, because of Akshay Kumar’s popularity. But as the time of their release approaches, Satyameva Jayate has gained the upper hand as far as advance bookings are concerned.”

A source close to the development says, “Gold was given the Independence Day slot long before Satyameva Jayate chose the same day for release. Akshay did try to reason with the Satyameva Jayate team. Earlier this year, he graciously vacated the Republic Day slot he had booked for PadMan and gave it to Padmaavat. This time too, he saw no reason for a clash. But since it hasn’t been averted, he sees no reason not to take the competition on headlong.”

Satyameva Jayate producer Nikkhil Advani said, “It’s been a highly emotional day for the entire team of SMJ watching the film with the audiences that it was made to reach out to. Milap’s conviction and outright confidence has paid huge dividends and as producers we are extremely gratified by the record-breaking numbers that have appreciated the film as well as the reviews that understood the intention with which the story had been narrated.”

John Abraham starrer Satyameva Jayate, has done tremendously well on its opening day. Also starring Manoj Bajpayee, Satyameva Jayate has earned Rs. 20.52 crore on its opening day.

On the other hand, Akshay Kumar-Mouni Roy-starrer Gold has opened big at the box office. The patriotic sports drama has had the highest opening as far as Akshay Kumar’s films go. The film has earned Rs. 25.25cr on it’s opening day.

Gold is competing hard with the John Abraham-starrer Satyamev Jayate, and the two films together have raked in around Rs 45 crore on day 1.
