It is weird to imagine the Marvel Cinematic Universe without Chris Evans as Captain America. There was a possibility of it not happening once. Chris had certain doubts regarding the role but it was a phone call from his co-star Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr which banished all of his doubts.

Paying gratitude to Downey jr, Chris in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter revealed how Downey convinced him. In his interview the actor on his phone call with downey jr said “Just hearing him kind of give you that little nudge of encouragement, it just made me feel a little bit more like I was part of the gang and not so intimidated. It was a very nice comforting thing to hear that he was in my corner.”

He also turned the role down twice because of fear of being tied down to a particular role for several years. It was only after his mother and friends convinced him that he considered taking up the role. In the end, Evans his happy with how his decision has panned out over they years considering the kind of popularity he got through it. He thanked producer Kevin Fiege for continuing to insist him to take up the role.

The character of Captain America was retired in the recently concluded Marvel film, Avengers: Endgame. Evans appeared as the character in two standalone films and four avengers films. He also made a special appearance as the character in other Marvel films.
