Anupam Kher resigned from the post of Chairman of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) on October 31, 2018, due to his commitment to an international TV show, for which he has to relocate to the US.

After Anupam vacated the seat of chairman of FTII, the post was offered to Gulshan Grover but he also denied the offer, stating that he is planning to produce films in Bollywood with his son Sanjay Grover. Sanjay recently returned after featuring in a Hollywood movie.

According to some reports, Bollywood’s ‘Bad Man’ Gulshan said that he is not accepting the post because he has prior commitments. Otherwise, he would have loved to serve the future generations of cinema and would love to stand by FTII beliefs.

The meeting to choose the next chairman of FTII is scheduled for December 18, 2019, until then the seat is vacant.

On the work front, Anupam Kher’s International film ‘Hotel Mumbai’, based on 10-year-old Mumbai Terror attack, is ready to release on March 29, 2019. And his Bollywood film ‘Accidental Prime-Minister’ will also release sometime in 2019.

Gulshan Grover was last seen in this year released ‘Hate Story 4’ and will be next seen in ‘Mogul’ which is still under production and will be released in 2019. Grover will be seen playing the role of Dawood Ibrahim in the film.
