Mohanlal starrer ‘Odiyan’ became the first Malayalam movie to earn Rs 100 crores, just by pre-release business. This one is the most awaited Malayalam movie of 2018 and it is made on a lavish budget. According to the filmmakers, the movie is going to be the visual treat for the audience.

The film was already expected to shatter some Malayalam Box Office record but it has set a new benchmark even before its release.
At the audio release function of the movie, the director said that pre-booking of ‘Odiyan’ is bigger than ‘2.0’ and ‘Sarkar’ combined together in UAE and Kerala. “It is a big blessing and a recognition for Lalettan’s stardom” he added.
The film will be released on 3000 screens across the globe in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu languages on December 14.
Mohanlal’s 2016 released, ‘Pulimurugan’ collected Rs 100 crores worldwide in just 30 days of its release, and with it, the actor became the first one in Malayalam cinema to cross 100 crores in the shortest span.
The trailer of the movie released two months ago. It is a fantasy thriller film directed by V. A. Shrikumar Menon in his feature film debut. According to the synopsis, “The film is based on the legend of Odiyan, who in Kerala folklore are men possessing shapeshifting abilities, who could assume animal form. Odiyans are said to have inhabited the Malabar region of Kerala before the era of electricity. The film stars Mohanlal in the lead role.”
