“A martini. Shaken not stirred” – Sean Connery as James Bond.

Scottish actor, Sean Connery the first actor to ever portray James Bond on-screen left us on October 31. He died a legend and a true great of cinema. In a career which sprang for 5 decades, Connery played many iconic roles apart from Bond.

He made many friends in the film industry, inspired many actors, and gave the cinema it’s many iconic moments. His co-star from his 1989 film, Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade has paid a tribute to him in the aftermath of his death.

This co-star is a legend himself; Harrison Ford. The flamboyant star who was the lead in the Indiana Jones film series remembered Connery who played his father in the film.

Steven Spielberg has helmed the film which followed the films, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Temple of Doom. Sean Connery played the role of Henry Jones Sr, father to Ford’s titular character.

In a statement to Variety, Ford talked about Connery, stating how he became his real-life father figure too. Ford’s statement read –

“He was my father… not in life… but in Indy 3. You don’t know pleasure until someone pays you to take Sean Connery for a ride in the sidecar of a Russian motorcycle bouncing along a bumpy, twisty mountain trail and getting to watch him squirm.”

“God we had fun — if he’s in heaven, I hope they have golf courses. Rest in peace dear friend.” Concluded Ford.

The 90-year-old Sean Connery died in his sleep in the Bahamas. He departed the world peacefully, which his son, Jason Connery confirmed to the BBC.

Not only did Harrison Ford himself paid Connery a tribute but even the creator of the Indiana Jones film series, George Lucas did too. He said –

“His audiences spanned generations, each with favorite roles he played. He will always hold a special place in my heart as Indy’s dad. With an air of intelligent authority and sly sense of comedic mischief, only someone like Sean Connery could render Indiana Jones immediately into boyish regret or relief through a stern fatherly chiding or rejoiceful hug. I’m thankful for having had the good fortune to have known and worked with him.”

Legends often recognize each other. In this case, also one legend has recognized the other. Sean Connery is no more with us but his impact truly lives on.
