Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor, who will be seen next week in Raj Mehta directorial Good Newwz along with Akshay Kumar, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani, has recently opened up about her character in her another new film Takht. During an interview with Filmfare, she revealed that she is playing princess Jahanara’s character in Takht.
“In the Mughal history Jahanara Begum was the most important woman in the court. She was actually the main reason as to why everything took place. Us samay Shahjahan ne har decision Jahanara se puch kar liya tha (Shahjahan took every decision after consulting Jahanara). I am very excited to play that part,” she told the magazine.
Jahanara Begum was a Mughal princess and the eldest child of emperor Shahjahan and his wife Mumtaz. She was also the older sister of the crown prince Dara Shikoh and emperor Aurangzeb. After her mother’s death, she became the Padshah Begum (First Lady). She wielded major political influence during her father’s reign and supported Dara Shikoh as his successor.
Kareena also revealed that the shooting of the film will start in April next year and “lots of sets are being constructed in Filmcity.”
Based on the Mughal history of India, Takht will be produced and directed by Karan Johar. His last directorial venture for the big screen was Ae Dil Hai Mushkil that came out three years ago.
