After opening to good numbers on its first Monday, Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh, Tara Sutaria, and Rakul Preet Singh starrer Marjaavaan saw a small drop in its box office collection on Tuesday but remained steady on Wednesday.

The film collected Rs 3.16 crore on Wednesday which is almost on par with its Tuesday collection of Rs 3.61 crore. The film saw a little higher collection on Monday with Rs 4.15 crore.

The film that saw a collection of Rs 7.03 crore on its first day, collected Rs 7.21 crore and Rs 10.18 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively. The film’s total domestic box office collection of six days stands at Rs 35.34 crore.

The romantic action film is especially doing well in single screens and multiplexes of smaller cities. The film’s real test will begin tomorrow on 22 November when John Abraham’s multistarrer Pagalpanti is coming out. Both the films have mass appeal and will be vying for the same type of audience. Pagalpanti will also want those single screens which could mean that Marjaavaan goes to the lesser collecting single screens.

Film trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh took to his social media account to share the figures. He wrote, “Marjaavaan Fri 7.03 cr, Sat 7.21 cr, Sun 10.18 cr, Mon 4.15 cr, Tue 3.61 cr, Wed 3.16 cr. Total: ₹ 35.34 cr. #India biz.”

Released on 15th November, Marjaavaan has received mixed to negative reviews from the movie critics. The film has been panned for its weak script and poor direction. The only positive thing said about the film is Riteish Deishmukh’s performance as a vertically challenged antagonist.

The music of the film has been well received by the audience. The people are enjoying the songs especially Ek Toh Kam Zindagani featuring Nora Fatehi which has crossed millions of views on YouTube. Haiya Ho featuring Rakul Preet has also been doing very well. However, both the songs are recreated versions of old songs from 1980s films Janbaaz and Dayavan. The original songs Tum Hi Aana and Thodi Jagah  have become everyone’s favourite numbers.

Coming back to the movie, Marjaavaan is a powerful mass action love story with the highlight being the battle between Sidharth and Riteish’s character. While Riteish plays a dwarf villain, Sidharth plays a lover boy. The co-producer Bhushan Kumar described the film as “a violent, dramatic love story”.

Written and directed by Milap Zaveri, Marjaavaan is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, Nikkhil Advani.
