Bollywood actor Richa Chadda, who was last seen in Ajay Bahl directorial Section 375 earlier this year, is all set for her upcoming film Panga that stars Kangana Ranaut. Speaking to Mid-Day, the Fukrey actor revealed that she only had a special appearance in the film, but “what drew me is the film’s central idea that a woman can make a comeback after getting married and having children.” She shared that she wanted to make her contribution to make a case for women in sports.

Chadda asserted that being a woman in the fields of acting and sports makes a big difference. “Say, as an actor, if I want to get married and have a baby, questions pertaining to what childbirth will do to my body and how long I will have to stay away from work, will linger in my mind,” she told the news daily.

“Women in these fields have to think about their physical well-being. If they want to get back on the field, they need to have endurance and stamina. This idea is conveyed in Panga. It will encourage women to return to sports,” she said, adding that she used to play basketball in college, but for this film, she had to train in kabaddi.”

Panga also features actors Jassi Gill, Neena Gupta and Pankaj Tripathi. The sports drama revolves around the life of a Kabaddi player.

Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and produced by Fox Star Studios, the film is scheduled to be theatrically released in India on 24 January next year.
