Jacqueline Fernandez’s efforts to support the betterment of animals all over India and her general love towards all animals finally earn international recognition as Jacqueline prepares to receive an award for digital activism at the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals on the 11th of May.

PETA’s attention to the actress was supposedly drawn after the #FreeGajraj campaign initiated by Jacqueline which successfully set free an elephant living in captivity within an Indian temple. The elephant had been imprisoned for purely religious purposes for over 50 years, until the day Jacqueline decide to use her fame to shed light onto this matter.

Other positive actions and campaigns started by Jacqueline Fernandez include supporting the rights and freedom of all horses used to draw horse-carriages and carts all over the country. Fernandez had reportedly spoken to the Mayor of Mumbai regarding her concerns about the sufferings of these horses. Jacqueline has also previously worked in a collaboration with Lakmé Fashion Week to support the homeless dogs roaming the streets of the country and help increase their chances of adoption and survival.

Jacqueline Fernandez had previously been anointed as India’s Woman of the Year in 2014 by PETA, but this will be her first time receiving an award for Indian Digital Activism from the organization.
