A number of movies have been made on legendary Telugu movie star and Former Cheif Minister of Andra Pradesh NT Rama Rao. Now Ram Gopal Varma has come up a version of his own, which kicked of controversy in Andra Pradesh.
Titled Lakshmi’s NTR, the biopic is being created from the perspective of NTR’s wife, Lakshmi Parvathi. Varma had announced the film on the Telugu Film Legend and TPD Party founder’s last year has not gone well with the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TPD) as certain Episodes in NTR’s life are historically uncomfortable for its current leadership.
The principal opposition of YRS was caught in controversy as the film was produced by one of its leaders. NTR’s son and film hero Balakrishna had first announced the biopic on his late father. It was supposed to portray the life of NTR from childhood to the chief minister’s chair.
Varma’s name was cropped off as the director but nothing was made official. Then Varma was not part of the film. Later Varma announced that he would go ahead with the film on NTR and gave it the title Lakshmi’s NTR, after the Telugu icon’s second wife Lakshmi Parvathi.
The one minute clip shows an unnamed actor sitting down in a chair with his head back, and as music played in the background, the star sat up and the incredible resemblance to the Telugu Desam Party’s leader is on point.
While the songs and posters have failed to get any sort of response from the audience, it is hoped that the clip will help generate interest in the film.
Produced by Rakesh Reddy with its music by Kalyani Malik, the movie is expected to be released on January 24, 2019.
