Whenever actors Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone have come together on the big screen, success has followed. The first time they shared the screen space was over a decade ago in Siddharth Anand directorial Bachna Ae Haseeno which emerged as a hit film at the box office. Their second and third film, Ayan Mukerji directorial Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Imtiaz Ali directorial Tamasha, were not only commercially successful but also received critical acclaim.
While the reports were rife that the duo were reuniting for a Luv Ranjan’s film which would also star actor Ajay Devgn, it now seems the film has taken a back seat after Devgn did not come on board. But the fans would be happy to know that the pair would still be reuniting for another film which would be directed by Luv Ranjan only. But it is a completely different project from the one that Ranjan had planned with Devgn, according to a report on entertainment website Bollywood Hungama.
“For whatever reason, Devgn is not doing Luv Ranjan’s film, at least not for now. But Ranjan is going ahead with a quirky twisted love story with Deepika and Ranbir. It will be something that neither of two star-actors has ever attempted before,” the report quoted a source.
The film is expected to go on the floors in the mid of 2020 by then Deepika Padukone would be done with her films Chhapaak and 83 directed by Meghna Gulzar and Kabir Khan respectively.
