Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, and Madhuri Dixit starrer Parinda is considered as a landmark film that redefined the portrayal of underworld in Hindi films. Director Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s gem completed 30 years of its release on Sunday. Therefore, the director took the occasion to announce his next film.

Titled Shikara- A Love Letter From Kashmir, the next film of Vidhu Vinod Chopra will release on 21 February next year. The Twitter post from the official Twitter handle of Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films read, “Shikara – A love letter from Kashmir to release on 21st February, 2020. From director Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Presented by Fox Star Hindi, Produced by Vinod Chopra Films. #Shikara”.

The shooting of the film reportedly began in March 2018 in Kashmir. This is not the first that Vidhu Vinod Chopra is making a film involving Kashmir as one of the major elements in the theme. He had earlier helmed the action thriller film Mission Kashmir in 2000.

While not much is known about the film, some reports suggest the story of this new project was written by Vidhu alongside local Kashmiri writer. It has also been reported that the film will feature a number local popular faces like Zameer Ashai, Shahid Gulfam and Imran. The leading man is reported to be from Bhopal and the young actress from the Bhaderwah area of Jammu region.

The film initially supposed to release in November this year but will now release on 21 Feb next where it will clash with Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar‘s Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship.
