The production of the digital versions of its current generation gaming consoles, the Xbox One X and Xbox One S has been stopped by Microsoft. As per the reports of the Verge, the company has reported that this must be considered as a genuine step as the company takes steps into producing the Xbox series X. Official release date has yet not been set for the new console . One of the reports confirmed that the final units for India have also been launched.

In some ways though, the move makes sense.  So far, the Xbox One X has been one of the Microsoft’s most powerful console, but the upcoming Series X will push the boundaries in terms of what consoles can do. In 2017, the company had launched the Xbox One X, meaning it has had a three-year life cycle, which is very much shorter than the nearly six-odd year life cycle that gaming consoles usually have.

According to the document earlier leaked on Twitter it has been indicated that the team of Microsoft is also working on a second console which is under the Series X model. Some of them have speculated that this one will be known as  the Xbox One Series S, and will be a much more affordable one and provide a lower end alternative to the powerful Series X.

As the Series X supports gaming in resolutions of 4K and 8K resolution, it is very much expected that the second console will support resolutions up to 1080p and 1440p. As per the reports, Microsoft is  going to include a mode of profiling for this new console in the Series X’s developer kit, which would allow different game makers to test and adapt their games to the other console.

Later, this year both Microsoft as well as Sony will be launching new versions of their gaming consoles. Last month, Sony had revealed its PlayStation 5.
