Reliance Jio is planning to manufacture around 10 crore low-cost Android smartphones according to sources. The phones might be launched by the end of 2020 or early 2021. Reliance Industries has stated in July that Alphabet Inc’s Google is going to invest around $4.5 billion for its digital unit.
Mukesh Ambani said in July that Google will build an operating system for Android for powering low-cost 4G or 5G smartphones that would be designed by Reliance Industries. On the other hand, Reliance Industries sold 33% of its digital arm called Jio Platforms for raising Rs.1.52 trillion and won the backing of global tech and financial investors like Intel, Facebook Inc and Qualcomm.
