The Samsung Galaxy S21 flagships will not ship chargers and earphones in the box. Similar to Apple, Samsung has also showed environmental concerns for its decision to remove these accessories. Now, it seems like the company will not stop at the Galaxy S21 series when it is about lighter packaging.

Samsung has released a set of FAQs related to new phones and there, they have hinted at the future plans related to the in-box accessories. Samsung believes that the removal of charger plugs and earphones from their in-box device packaging will help to solve sustainable consumption problems and remove any pressure that consumers might feel towards continuously receiving unnecessary charger accessories with new phones.

Samsung says that it has been implementing USB-C charging ports on its phones since 2017 and so, the older chargers will be compatible with the latest Galaxy models. It is not clear if Samsung will remove chargers and earphones from all of its smartphones or if this will remain a decision only for the S series flagships.

Samsung’s Galaxy A, M and F series smartphones target budget buyers and all the models bundle a charging adapter, if not earphones. Customers who purchase them may not want to pay extra for a charger. Also, those who shell out around $2000 for a Samsung foldable phone may get irked for not getting a charger in the box after paying the mentioned amount of money.

For now, Samsung has left things open-ended and might change its plans for future smartphones and that entirely depends on how customers will react to the charger-less Galaxy S21 smartphone boxes this year.
