pis2-Darwingmod

Sony’s PS2 is now over a decade old but fans don’t seem to forget it as recently, a modder going by the Reddit handle of Darkwingmod has come up with a portable version of PS2/PIS2. He/she says that he /she has been working on the model since years and the new build uses genuine PS2 hardware. He even showed a video with complete gameplay footage with the device running games like Kingdom Hearts perfectly.

In order to build PIS2, Darkwingmod used PlayStation 2 hardware and a Raspberry Pi 2 microcomputer (to upload files via the SBM server). The mod uses real hardware, not emulation and, according to the user, the games work perfectly fine. The battery lasts for about 90 minutes, and the PIS2 is charged using a conventional PlayStation 2 power cable. The console is equipped with one slot for a memory card since the other is hidden inside the case with the constantly installed Free MCboot bootloader.

The PIS2 further fits a comfortable chassis with the motherboard of PS2 slim stuffed into it, including a screen compatible with VGA and composite signals. Here’s is the video of the reborn PIS2:
