4 employees of the company Lottomatica, a subsidiary of International Game Technology (IGT), which is responsible for scratch and win lottery ticket competition in Italy have been busted for their alleged involvement in a $ 31 million scam.

The employees belonging to the company used to track and trace the areas where winning tickets were being distributed with the help of computer softwares, belonging to the company.

This kind of information is confidential but the alleged offenders were able to get hold of that information and used to inform their friends and relatives to purchase those tickets.

The relatives on winning the lotteries would share the amount with them. This way, the employees made themselves rich while genuine players were deprived of the opportunity.

Italy’s national law enforcement body, Guardia de Finanza stated that the employees used company’s IT softwares to commit such a scam.

Company Lottomatica stated that the employees have been fired.

Company further added, “IGT takes this incident extremely seriously, and has, since the beginning of the investigation, fully cooperated with the Judicial Authority in order to facilitate the investigation into the alleged misconduct and fully protect the integrity of its games and the interests of its customers. As a precautionary measure, the Company suspended the four employees as soon as it was aware of the investigation”, reported CalvinAyre.
