There has been a COVID-19 outbreak in Malaysia recently which has forced Resorts World Genting to temporarily close its operations for at-least 3 months.

Resorts World Genting, the only integrated resort in Malaysia has been shut as a pro-active measure. However, the Genting Resorts will try to keep their properties open in rest of the parts of the world.

As per Maybank Investment Bank, the predicted loss for the company can be core net loss by 76% to MYR676m ($164.1m).

It has been reported that it is likely that the Resorts would be able to re-open the guests only in December, allegedly.

As reported by Gambling Insider, Maybank analysts said: “We gather that Resorts World Genting will be shut for three months this time, and Genting SkyWorlds will only open in December 2021 to coincide with school holidays.”

It was added: “the improving vaccination rates in Malaysia should help the operator return to profit. RWG visitor arrivals rebounded quickly when it reopened and interstate travel was allowed in Q3 2020.”

Notably, Genting’s properties like Resorts World New York and UK casinos have re-opened its properties in April returning the revenue to pre-pandemic levels.
