Snapchat announced Monday that it had released an updated version of its app for Android devices. We all know that with Snapchat for Android there’s a lot of room for improvement. The app has always worked better on iOS devices, leaving Android users feeling neglected with a slow, poorly optimized experience.

The company is believed to be rewriting Snapchat for Android from the ground up since the beginning of 2018 to bring performance for the Android version up to par with the iOS app.

What’s new?:

Early tests of its new Android app has revealed a 20 percent reduction in the amount of time it takes to open the app. Android users should also look out for faster loading times on Lens and Stories, smoother swiping experience, and better image quality. Snapchat says it will keep working on improving the app for Android users. While there are virtually no changes to the actual UI or navigation for Snapchat, the new app should be faster, less laggy, and less buggy than the old version.

Snapchat says it will keep working on improving the app for Android users. However, Snapchat Charms are still only available on the iOS app and some features still may not work as the app sorts out its kinks, therefore, Android users may still notice some problems.

Snapchat earlier rolled out Scan, an AR platform, and a multi-player gaming platform in an attempt to reinvent itself.

The update has already been rolled out to Android devices and can be downloaded now.
