Well-known music and podcasts streaming platform Spotify has started to work on a new feature for Android users. The new feature is actually an extension of the previously available feature where the platform allowed users to listen to locally downloaded music on their Android/iOS.

The basic limitation of the previously available feature is that users had to sync the songs on the same local networks as their desktop Spotify app. Now, this is ready to change and Spotify has been testing a new feature where users will be able to play locally stored music directly within the app.

The feature was noticed by reverse engineer Jan Manchun Wong who posted a picture on her Twitter handle where the feature is available as a toggle at the Android app.

For now, users who need to listen to local music have to log in to their account on desktop as well as mobile app. Users need to import the local music files in the desktop app and then they will have an option to download the music on their phone.

The feature is at present being tested only on Android Spotify app. Spotify is yet to make an official announcement and the feature will be available to the wider public.
