After Kamal Nath, Chhattisgarh CM Baghel also waives farm loans soon after taking charge

Soon after taking charge as Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel on Monday announced that his government will waive farm loans within 10 days as promised by Congress president Rahul Gandhi during campaigning of recently-concluded Chattisgarh Assembly Elections.

Earlier on the day, Madhya Pradesh Chief Kamal Nath also waived farm loans of Rs 2 lakh as promised at the time of elections, shortly after he took oath as the chief minister.

Talking to Media after his swearing-in ceremony, Baghel said, “Congress President Rahul Gandhi had announced that farm loans will be waived within 10 days of Congress Coming to Power and that Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy will be increased to ₹2500 from ₹1700. These two decisions have been taken today”

Agrarian Crisis and Farmer Distress were among major issues in the Hindi Heartland States where the assembly elections 2018 have been recently concluded. Congress has added the issue of Farm Loan waiver in all three states – Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. The Congress Campaign in these polls has been revolved around agrarian crisis largely.

The Chief Minister also announced to form SIT Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe 2013 Jhiram Ghati Naxal Attack He said as quoted by ANI “Our third decision is related to Jhiram Ghati. Total 29 people including prominent leaders like Nand Kumar Patel were killed. Conspirators haven’t been exposed. No such massacre of politicians ever took place in history. To nab the culprits, a SIT has been formed

Congress on Sunday after days of Discussion and deliberations named Bhupesh Baghel as the Chief Minister of the State. Congress in recently concluded assembly polls has totally dethroned the Ruling Bhartiya Janta Party bagging 68 seats out of 90 seats in the assembly. Whereas Raman Singh Led BJP was just Reduced to 15 seats.
