IB and RAWIB and RAW Chiefs Get Six Months Extension on Their Two-Year Terms

For the first time in India’s history, the tenure of the chiefs of the two prominent institutions of the country, the Research & Analysis Wing (R&AW) and the Intelligence Bureau(IB), has been extended by the Centre.

While RAW serves as India’s foreign intelligence agency, IB is the internal intelligence agency of the country.

IB Director Rajiv Jain’s was to end on December 30 and R&AW Secretary AK Dhasmana’s term was expected to end on December 29.

Jain is a 1980-batch IPS officer from Jharkhand and has served in various departments of the IB, including the Kashmir Desk. He was appointed IB Director on December 30, 2016, for two years.

Anil Dhasmana is a 1981-batch MP cadre IPS officer. His domain of expertise is considered to be Balochistan, counter-terrorism and Islamic affairs.
