To pick up the threads of party’s state unit after suffering a heavy loss of big-class resignation last month, Congress party appointed Gaurav Gogoi as AICC (All India Congress Committee) in-charge of Tripura and Manipur.
Gaurav Gogoi is presently an MP from Kaliabor in Assam. He posted a heartful message expressing his happiness over his new responsibilities. He will now look after the affairs of Tripura, Manipur, West Bengal, and Andaman-Nicobar Islands.
On the auspicious day of #MahaNavmi, I have been blessed with a new responsibility. I’m grateful to Ma Durga for her grace. I will not let Congress President Madam Sonia Gandhi ji down. pic.twitter.com/JvPmrT9XmZ

Sonia Gandhi cleared the appointment on Monday night. Luizinho Faleiro was relieved from his post for these two seats, he will, however, continue to be the All Indian Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in-charge for other Northeastern states.
The appointment comes after Tripura Congress President Kirit Pradyot Deb Barman and nine other leaders of the party had submitted their papers to quit last month. Vice-president Sachindra Debbarman and Dinesh Debbarman (general secretary) had also resigned from their office.
