ramganj police station

In an unusual turn of events for a city like Jaipur, the angry mob turned violent and pelted stones at the policemen, killing one. The mob also burnt police vehicles and attacked the ramganj police station in Jaipur. Ac a precautionary measure, curfew has been imposed in areas of four police station, including Ramganj, Manak Chowk, Subhash Chowk and Galta Gate police stations.

According to locals, the series of events started when a policeman allegedly misbehaved with a senior lady. Another theory, which is coming in from the side of Jaipur police, suggest that a policeman had hit a bike-rider with a lathi when he tried to escape the routine check. Soon after that, the locals in the area gathered and moved to Ramganj police station.

The ramganj police station was attacked and vehicles were burnt, which included a chetak jeep and a 108 ambulance in the police premises. Police responded by lathi charge on the mobs and it had turned violent till then. Unconfirmed reports suggest one casualty by lathi charge, whereas, latest rumours are suggesting that a policeman might have died.

The curfew has been imposed to control the situation and in some parts of Jaipur, we are also getting reports about the banned internet. A lot of subscribers on Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone, Idea and BSNL have reached out to us complaining of no internet since morning. We have confirmed the same at our end and found that the internet services have been suspended by police orders.
