Following the lines of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Sunday expressed his wish to merge Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir with India.

Jitendra Singh said since the parliament has unanimously agreed, let’s merge Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir with India. He said that he hopes to see such a thing happening in his lifetime.

He was addressing a meet on the current socio-political situation of Jammu and Kashmir. The meet was organized by the state BJP at party headquarters in Jammu. He also criticized the opposition leaders for attacking the government’s historic move. He said that the parties are spreading false fear in the region.

He called the abrogation of Article 370 as a necessary correction step to right the injustices being done on Kashmiri people. Speaking his mind on the earlier special status of Jammu and Kashmir, he said that it led to the lack of development. It created isolation in the minds of many.

Defence Minister previously called for taking the matter of Pak-occupied-Kashmir as a priority in Indo-Pak talks. He said that if Pakistan stops harboring terrorism, then there will be avenues of discussion. And in that discussion, POK issue will be put up.

Rajnath Singh, as quoted by ANI, said, “Why should there be talks? On what issues there would be talks? Talks with Pakistan would begin only after it stops patronizing terrorism. If talks begin, it would now only be on the PoK and no other issue.”

Pakistan government has decided to downgrade its diplomatic ties and bilateral trade relations with New Delhi following the repeal of Article 370. Pakistan currently claims a considerable portion of Kashmir as its own.
