Former Defence Minister and former Member of Parliament and senior Congress leader from Kerala AK Antony on Wednesday said the grand old party should not be underestimated and without its role a change at the Center is not possible.
Former Defense Minister AK Antony said while talking to the media, that the “Nehru-Gandhi family is very important for the Congress as it is the power and powerhouse that guides the party. Without family, 99 percent of its workers in the entire country will not accept Congress.”
Antony was talking to the media at his residence in Delhi. He further said, “Don’t take the Congress party lightly at all. It will come back. You can’t even think of making a change in Delhi without the role of Congress.”
Exuding confidence in the party’s prospects in the 2024 general elections, Antony said the Congress was preparing a roadmap to strengthen the organization at the grassroots level. He expressed confidence that the party would once again come back strongly in the politics of the country.
At the same time, on the recent incidents of communal violence in Delhi and other places, Antony said that the situation is very bad and painful. He said that India is the only country where all religions, all castes and different languages have flourished. The greatest strength of India is its unity in diversity. Joint effort to bring uniformity in every field is dangerous for the country. We have to maintain unity in diversity of India at all cost.
Regarding the prospects of Congress, he said that the party will make a strong comeback in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. A plan is being worked out for this. A Chintan Shivir is also being organized to brainstorm on this in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The Congress party has always been fighting for the country.
