After taking charge as the chief minister of Punjab, Amarinder Singh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the first time in the PM Office in parliament complex and largely discussed about the waiver of loans of farmers in the state of Punjab.

Speaking to media after the meeting, Amarinder Singh told that the debt waiver issue was mentioned to the Prime Minister and this was in extension to the demand which was originally put in front of PM when the congress delegation led by Rahul Gandhi had met PM. He also stated that the farm loan waiver should be extended to Punjab along with Uttar Pradesh. FYI, in Uttar Pradesh, BJP had promised farmers to waive off the loans if it comes to power, the same was done in Punjab by Congress.

Earlier in the day, Punjab chief minister had met the union finance minister and had requested him for the same. His request included a prompt issuance of the funds so that farmers can be benefited before they start growing the next crop.

Manpreet Singh Badal, the finance minister of the Amarinder cabinet also accompanied him. The trip, which is the first official trip for Punjab CM after taking charge of the office, will include his meetings with top government officials in Delhi along with meeting with the president, whom he is meeting later today.

When asked about whether he will now resign from the post of head of Punjab congress, he stated that holding two important positions will be a little hectic for him and that he will take the matter to congress president once she returns.

Talking of Prashant Kishore, he was in praise for the strategist. Amarinder Singh added that strategies of Prashant Kishore helped congress in winning all sections of the society and that he was happy with the way he worked with his volunteers.
