All the major parties are protesting against the deteriorating condition of riot-hit West Bengal. The state has been witnessing a series of riots from past few days. While the GJM is demonstrating unrest in the hills, demanding for a separate Gorkhaland, another region in the Communal riots broke in Basirhat in North 24-Parganas district is facing the communal riots.

Mamata Banerjee-led government has been unsuccessful in restoring peace in the state, parties like BJP is accusing Banerjee of practicing appeasement politics and Bengal Congress is organising a rally against TMC government.

West Bengal State Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had organised the rally on Wednesday in Kolkatta accusing TMC government of failing to maintain law and order in the state and also to oppose BJP‘s ‘mixing of politics and religion.’ Two prominent Congress leaders, Raj Babbar and CP Joshi were also supposed to address the rally, but they backed off at the last moment.

Posters of Babbar and Joshi were all over the city but their backing off is being seen as a sign from the Congress   Chief to not to protest against TMC for the time being, though the stand of Sonia Gandhi is not clear yet. A senior Congress leader said that both the leaders had confirmed their presence in the rally but didn’t turn up on the day without giving any specific reason for backing off.
