Chandrashekar Rao gave his explanation to EC regarding Vishwa Hindu Parishad state president M Rama Rao’s complaint mentioning that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had insulted Hindus in his rally in Karimnagar.

A complaint was filed against Chandrashekar Rao by Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s state president M Rama Rao saying that he had insulted Hindus in his rally in Karimnagar on March 17. The complaint was filed with the Election Commission. His speech read, “Ee Hindu gallu… Bondu gallu.. dikkumalina .. daridrapu gaalu, desham lo aggi pettale, gattar levale .. loosely translating to  these hindus are disgusting. They belong in the gutter.”

In the same speech he had said mentioning BJP that, “BJP leaders think they are the only Hindus. What is their problem if Hindus like me perform pujas? Are you the only people who can safeguard our culture? Were there no temples before the BJP came to power?”

In its response to M Rama Rao’s complaint the EC commission made it clear to the Chief Minister that he is ought to give a reply to the same on or before 12th April in any other case decisions will be taken against him without further enquiry.

Responding to EC’s statement Chandrashekar Rao said,” the allegation is false and flatly denied.” He stated that anyone who makes an attempt to understand the speech will know that his words were aimed at secularism and not to insult any religion. He said how the complainant had produced a ‘truncated version’ of his speech.
