According to media reports, a day before Yogi Adityanath‘s visit to Mainpur Deenapatti village in Kushinagar district on Thursday, Musahar Dalit families received two soaps and a sachet of shampoo, and instructions to “clean themselves” before attending the public meeting.

Strongly condemning the incident, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that, CM and his government has practiced untouchability and should apologies to the dalits for insulting them like this and a case should be registered against him. He accused the CM saying that he was not a ‘yogi’, rather he was more of a ‘bhogi’.

He further said that such an shameful act done by Yohi Adityanath and his government, reflects the true face, thought process, thinking and actions of the government. “They (BJP leaders) have insulted the entire community of that village but more importantly they have insulted the concept of dalits in this country,” he said. He also questioned that which part of the constitution was the Chief Minister practicing by reflecting such mindset.

Congress spokesperson demanded an apology from Yogi Adityanath and said that appropriate cases must be registered under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against him and his official army, for practicing untouchabilty and insulting the dalit community.
