Venkaiah Naidu, in his interview to the reporters, while attending valedictory function of ‘Textiles India 2017’, held at Mahatma Mandir in Gujarat said that, Congress had deliberately isolated itself by not attending the GST launch function held on midnight of 30 June.
He said that the party did not take the right decision by boycotting the launch of GST as the people were happy with the implementation of GST and the bold decisions taken by Modi. He further added that, it was actually Congress, to put forward the idea of GST and now when it was implemented, it disagreed with the whole system of GST. Naidu also mentioned that several other allies of the UPA like, Samajwadi Party, JDU and YSR Congress also attended the launch.
Venkaiah Naidu, also condemned the decision of fielding Meira Kumar as the opposition candidate against the NDA candidate Ram Nath Koivind. He said that the post of a president was far above any politics, it was a post capacity, conduct and commitment towards the Constitution. According to him, Congress was fighting a war against ideology but he demanded to know what ideology the party was talking about.
NDA is confident about the victory of their candidate Ram Nath Kovind.
