The loan waiver announced by the governments of many states came as a little relief to the farmers after the protest demonstrated by them. However, many farmers across the country still complained that the small and medium farmers could not benefit from the loan waiver as, governments had set different slabs for the waive off.

The agitated farmers will still be organizing rallies against the government, and to use this opportunity against BJP, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi has planned to head these rallies specially in BJP bound states.

Amid all this the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has listed down the number of farmers that will be debt free from the 35 districts of the state, where loan waiver is approved. Further listing the numbers Fadnavis said that total of 913 farmers will be debt free alone from Mumbai, where 694 farmers from Mumbai city and another 119 farmers from Mumbai suburbs.

Among the other to be relived are 918 peasants from adjoining Palghar, 10,809 from Raigad and 23,505 from Thane, Buldhana has 2,49,818 farmers while neighbouring Yavatmal ranks second at 2,42,471, followed by Beed’s 2,08,480 and Ahmednagar’s 2,00,869 farmer beneficiaries.

The remaining 17 districts fall in the below 1,00,000 beneficiaries list drawn up for the state.
