Kamal Nath has recently been appointed as chief of the party’s Madhya Pradesh unit. This step was taken by the Rahul Gandhi led Congress side on the twenty sixth of April.

Kamal Nath, 71, has replaced Arun Yadav as the Congress chief in Madhya Pradesh. Kamal Nath would be expected to replicate his repeated victories in Chhindwara district which resulted him in being a record holding nine time parliamentarian.

This move  has certainly revived Congress’s hope in its venture into Madhya Pradesh where they have been on the receiving end for fifteen long years. Although, the party has not announced it’s chief ministerial candidate as of now, it remains a close call between party’s senior leaders Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh. Scindia despite not being appointed as the chief, has been appointed as the chairman of the campaign committee.

The BJP has for long been demonstrating a strong foothold in the state wherein the sweep from assembly elections in 2014 stand as an invincible victory illustration. Shivraj Singh Chouhan from the BJP remains confident of his position at the helm.

The Congress heavily relies on veteran Kamal Nath and his spearhead thinking in terms of his experience, critical thinking and a strategical mindset whereas the BJP relies on past performance in the state and their campaigns led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

It is only left to time, to get an actual glance at this new strategic move by Congress. Today, was a new day in the blitz of politics and only the results and the voice of democracy would reveal if this day would be step to be remembered for the Congress or the one that further lags them behind in the race for 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
