Mayawati, former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and Rajya Sabha member, has resigned from her membership. After her speech today at Rajya Sabha, Mayawati was seen leaving the house angrily. She was angry over getting lesser time to speak on her issues. At the end, she mentioned that she is not able to raise the concerns of her community and in such a scenario, it is not worth for her to stay a member of the Parliament. Her term as Rajya Sabha MP was set to get over next year.

Mayawati is the chief of Bahujan Samaj Party, a party which voices the concerns of the Dalit community. She has been in national politics since a bit of time now. Mayawati is known for being a vocal critic of NDA government.

In her last speech in Rajya Sabha, Mayawati was given 3 minutes to speak. However, she spoke for 7 minutes about the increasing instances of mob lynching. According to her, the central government has been provoking such activities and they have been on rising in BJP ruled states. She also added that the target in such activities includes the poor, farmers, Dalits etc.

In the proceedings today, Mayawati spoke for double of her allotted time. While being asked to sit down by the deputy chairperson, PJ Kurian, Mayawati lashed out at him alleging that she is not being allowed to raise her concerns. She walked out from the Rajya Sabha and in her support, MPs of Congress and TMC also staged a walkout.
