Rajya Sabha Parliamentarians from, Bharatiya Janata Party, and Nationalist Congress Party on Thursday gave Zero Hour Notice in the house to raise different issues over different Issues.

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Saroj Pandey gave the notice over ‘simultaneous polls’ while another MP from the party, Ajay Pratap Singh, gave notice over ‘problems due to increasing population in the country’.

It should be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi called an all-party meeting in June last month. The meeting was called to discuss the proposed idea of ‘One Nation, One Election’. Many Opposition leaders openly rejected this idea of holding polls together of state assemblies and Lok Sabha.

While the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Parliamentarian Vandana Chavan moved the notice over”discrepancies in entry age in Schools in standard 1 across the country”.

The Zero House of the Rajya Sabha refers to the time immediately following the Question Hour, where Parliamentarians can raise issues of great importance without the mandatory 10 days advance notice.

The Session of the Upper House of the Parliament, Rajya Sabha, started from June 20 and will continue till July 26. However, It is expected that the government may extend the ongoing session of the Parliament by ‘three to five days’ or even by 10 days.

As per the PRS Legislative Research, NGO working and tracking the functioning of Parliament, the productivity of the 17th Lok Sabha is highest for any session in the past 20 years. While PRS Legislative Research Data further claimed that the productivity of the Rajya Sabha is 98%.
