Prime Minister Narendra Modi has held a meeting with his ministers includng Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu to discuss several issues. These issues included that terrorist attack in Anantnag, West Bengal riots, and discussion about the NDA’s nominee for Vice-President election. This meeting was essential because the last day of nomination for Vice-president is 18 July. No name was finalized in this meeting but the stress was laid on a few names.

BJP wants someone who can run the Rajya Sabha as chairman of the Upper House, where the BJP-led NDA is short of a majority, unlike in Lok Sabha where BJP has a majority on his own.

BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi is planning a march for ‘”Save Bengal” campaign from Rajghat to the BJP headquarters on  Ashok Road. Lekhi, who was part of a three-member parliamentary delegation that was stopped from visiting riot-hit Basirhat recently, did not confirm the names of other BJP leaders who will participate in the march.
