In a recently held press meeting, Milind Deora, Mumbai Congress Chief hinted out at the names of leaders for the topmost post in the national party. At the same time, He took his name out of the race while proposing the names of Sachin Pilot and Jyotiraditya Scindia.

His views came at an important time when the party is left leaderless after its president Rahul Gandhi announced his decision to abdicate the chair. Congress faced an embarrassing defeat in the recent Lok Sabha elections of 2019, after which the Gandhi family has decided to stay away from the limelight. For this very reason, there have been many speculations to who will command the reigns of Congress working committee.

He said that he is in tunes with Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s statement that the party is in the need of young and dynamic leadership. He further said that the leader selected should be having vast administrative and electoral experience. Therefore, he suggested the names of Sachin Pilot and Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh supported the candidature of Priyanka Gandhi for the post of Congress president. He said he agrees with Shashi Tharoor’s suggestion that She will make a good president. Milind Deora told “Priyanka Gandhi is exceptionally talented. It is the family’s decision to not be involved with the office of the Congress president. We must respect this and move on.” to News18.

Milind Deora also mentioned that the indecisive leadership at the top level is hurting the working of the national party and it will be great if somone capable gets appointed on the post at earliest. On being asked about his views on Rahul Gandhi’s stand of backing down from the post, He said that we must respect the choices of Gandhi family.

Milind Deora had also quit from his post on June 26 and he met Rahul Gandhi regarding the same. Now, Its all up to Congress Working Committee to select the right candidate for its party president post.
