Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday thanked all parties for supporting the important bill and resolution for Jammu and Kashmir after both the houses gave its nod to Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Bill and extension of President’s rule in the valley.

Taking to Twitter, PM Modi, ‘Both Houses of Parliament unanimously passed two important bills pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir. These bills were passed after rich debates, enriched by the participation of MPs across party lines. I thank all parties for their support. Such bipartisan support is gladdening’.

Talking about the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Bill that sought to give reservation to the people living near International Border, PM Modi said, ‘Passage of Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill ensures justice for those living in the border areas of Kathua, Samba & Jammu districts. The aspirations of the bright and talented youth of these areas will be fulfilled, which is wonderful for the state and our nation.’

While PM Modi also hailed Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his speech in Parliament. Sharing the link of his speech, PM Modi said, ‘Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah’s speeches in both Houses of Parliament were comprehensive and insightful. Those who want a clearer understanding of the Kashmir issue must hear his speeches.’

Earlier in the day both – Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Bill and Extension of President’s rule in J&K – were approved by the upper House of the parliament. These were approved by Lok Sabha last week. The Lok Sabha, on Friday, passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Bill. It also gave its nod to extend the President’s Rule in the valley for another six months beginning July 3.

Replying on a debate in Rajya Sabha on the resolution for extension of President’s rule, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that his government at Centre is not interested in ruling the state from Delhi and Assembly polls will be decided by the Election Commission. 

Asserting that there will be no space for separatists and terrorists, Shah added that his government will be working for winning the hearts of people in the state. Apart from the resolution to extend the President’s rule, the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Amendment Bill.
