With Lok Sabha Polls around the Polls, Congress President Rahul Gandhi is set to visit Bhopal and will address the farmers rally on February 8 at Jamboree Maidan, said AICC on Tuesday. Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee legal cell Chief JP Dhanopia informing about the Gandhi’s visit said, “The AICC has confirmed that the Congress president will come here on February 8. His detailed itinerary will be sent later.”

The Jamboree Maidan farmers rally will be the first that Rahul Gandhi will address after the assembly election campaigning in November. He also visited the same venue during the swearing-in ceremony of chief minister Kamal Nath on December 17.

Earlier this week, Rahul Gandhi, in a major move, promised that his party would ensure minimum income guarantee for every poor in the country if it returns to power after the Lok Sabha polls due in April-May. Rahul Gandhi while addressing at the ‘Kisaan Abhaar Sammelan’ made the remarks held here to express gratitude to Chhattisgarh’s people, particularly farmers, for voting the party to power in the state after a gap of 15 years. After this, his public meeting in Bhopal is being correlated with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections due in April-May this year.

Party leaders said that Rahul Gandhi’s Jamboree Maidan address will officially start the Lok Sabha election campaign for the Congress in Madhya Pradesh. Sources familiar with the Development said Congress president will not only address farmers but also thank voters of the state for bringing the Congress back to power after 15 years.

A series of meetings at PCC level was held on Tuesday following the confirmation about Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the state to look after the preparations on the same. AICC general secretary Deepak Babaria held meetings with state leaders, office bearers, and spokespersons and responsibilities were distributed for mobilizing for Gandhi’s show slated for February 8.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath also instructed the party’s state unit to start preparing for the February 8 farmers rally.

Before his visit to Madhya Pradesh, Congress President will also address a rally in Bihar on February 3. On February 4, Rahul Gandhi is expected to hold a joint press briefing along with sister Priyanka Gandhi in Lucknow.
